The Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure came to Florida, Ohio, on June 24.
The Florida United Methodist Church was a food stop on its route. Many saw the bicyclists coming along County Road
L to County Road Z from Malinta, crossing the Florida Bridge, continuing in town along Henry Street to Church Street to Market
Street (where our church is located) before going to Defiance on St. Rt. 424.
The
participants enjoyed our variety of food/drink offerings and a shaded area to rest before the final part of the
day to Defiance. They were very polite and so pleasant to have met. We received many thanks from them and
often heard that our site was the best one to offer many so items to purchase.
We thank the Diamond and Gold Outlet in
Napoleon for allowing us to use their tents and large fans to help cool down everyone on a very hot day!
"The Original Abner Sweetstreet Exhibition Band" provided entertainment for all to enjoy. They played
American popular music heard over the last one hundred years. The band is essentially a brass band and features swing,
Dixieland, big band, rock & roll, and even a polka or two.
Tom and Dallas Andrew shared information
about the P.E.T. Mission and allowed indiviudals to try out one of the finished P.E.T.'s. Some of the bikers donated
to this mission.
Interested individuals came and met those who participating in this event.
The particpants were very interested in our area. Some visited our historic Florida Library.
